On MSU: "We didn't shoot the ball well. Pretty obvious statement there." Said they didn't take bad shots, just missed the ones they took.
Ole Miss is a big team, big guys that can shoot.
"Hopefully our guys will respond over the next couple days. This is obviously a tough time."
Says the goal is to approach every game as its own season, try to be 1-0 every day.
"It's been a very difficult few weeks for everybody, but life goes on."
Isabell still suspended, but anticipates he will return shortly. Not sure it will be in time for Wednesday's game.
Anderson on failure to execute: "I could go on a rant." Says he's seen some on YouTube. "I could go on a rant like that but that probably wouldn't be very smart...I think our guys it's not something that we do on purpose, I just think it's a deal where we get in a game and they're not as focused as they need to be. All we need to do is keep working."
Said they've really condensed things, down to where they're only doing four or five things. "We're trying to do more things better and less things mediocre."
"Plays don't always work." Explains that you run some things to set up others. Mizzou's struggles are largely because they don't have a guy that can just take the ball to go make a play.
Says he thinks Phillips is a guy who can do that "eventually." Says Phillips has to decide when to attack and when to stop and set up somebody else or take a jumper.
Says Walton is either a three point shooter or a driver, needs to develop something in between.
Glad to see Gant have a good game, he's worked hard in practice. "Some of his results haven't been what he would like or what anyone would like."
"I think Terrence is a true leader. You know what's kind of impressive about Terrence? He struggled the other night...but he still maintains his personality and he admits that he didn't play well and he doesn't blame it on somebody else and he gets in the gym and he works at it."
Anderson says again shooting woes aren't related to shot selection most of the time. "I think it's confidence to be honest with you."
"You can't get better if you don't work at it. Now we make them work at it within our allotted time, but what do they do in their spare time? We have a core group of guys that are in here, I'm not gonna say every night, but they're in here, you can come over here at 2 in the morning and KJ Walton might be in here shooting...He's a guy, Cullen, God bless Cullen, he's struggling shooting, but it isn't because of lack of effort...Terrence, Kevin, those guys are in the gym working. Everybody needs to get in the gym working."
Asked if VanLeer's confidence is shaken: "I don't think there's any question...That's a lot of pressure to put on a young guy. I've got to make this shot, I've got to make this shot cause nobody else is making this shot I've got to make this shot. He'll be fine. It's a process and I know that people aren't happy with the way the process is going but all we can do is continue to work with them every day and be as positive but demanding as possible."
Says he sees more resiliency from this team than last year during the streak, "but losing's hard, especially when you lose consecutive games and some of them quite candidly weren't very close. In order for us to win we have to do a better job defensively because we have been challenged scoring. I still think we have the ingredients that guys can score, but we've just got to get some confidence doing it. Practices have been pretty good. I'd say better than what they were a year ago."
"We're trying to do a better job of teaching them the things they need to prepare for the next game."
"If you're really sincere about being a good basketball player, then when you don't do well or when your team doesn't do well you should come into the gym and try to get better." Says if you aren't committed, you point fingers and stay home and play XBox.
"Playing at this level is not easy, especially when things don't go your way."
On Jordan Barnett: "I wish he was eligible right now. I'll say that. He's a good shooter, he's got some size. He's kind of a wing, three/four guy. Where he'll ultimately end up fitting in, I don't know, but he's a good basketball player. We're fortunate to have him here, glad to have him here. He's a good young man, did a good job in school at Texas and I think he'll be a great asset to us next year."
