I point out things he does with which I disagree. So I want to give him props for his appointment of Kavanaugh.
Whether you like the choice or not, this has been unprecedented transparency. Candidate Trump gave us his list. Two openings filled. Both from the list. And by selectively leaking the final four this time, folks were able to do their diligence on the finalists. From my perspective, this was a refreshing change in the process. Hope to see more of it in the future. Well done, Mr. President.
Again, POTUS is a shrewd and gifted showman. His orchestration of the reveal was magnificent.
It is interesting that Kavanaugh was the pick. He is the very definition of the swamp. He likely would have been Jeb’s first choice. For good reason. I will be interested to see what the anti-establishment wing of the GOP ultimately thinks of Kavanaugh.
Lastly, Kavanaugh is a fine choice. Great pedigree. Very smart. I may not always agree with him and he wouldn’t have been my choice, but intellectually, he’s a good solid choice by POTUS. Unlike Gorsuch, who apparently isn’t terribly popular with his fellow justices, Kavanaugh is already friends with several of the other justices. He will be a good fit.
