"There’s been some buzz around another name from Missouri in DJ Smith. In 2023 he was Co-DC, linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator. He played linebacker for App State and spent a few years in the NFL before pursuing a career in coaching. He’s a young up and coming name in the coaching ranks. He’s been coaching linebackers at the collegiate level since 2018. Worked with Drinkwitz coaching outside linebackers at App State in 2019 and followed him over to Missouri as a linebackers coach. He earned the CO-DC and recruiting coordinator titles in 2022. He’s only 34. I’m going to be honest, though. I don’t think there’s a ton of traction here but he’s a name that was mentioned a few times early on after the Baker hire and has been mentioned in conversations I’ve had since. So, he’s a name to monitor, but for what it’s worth, I think there’s a real good chance he returns to Missouri."
