In case you missed it, entire portions of Maui have been wiped out by the wildfires, including most, if not all, of Lahaina. Reports stating the swiftness of the fires forced more than 100 people to flee into the ocean to escape. Death toll is up to 36.
Information is somewhat spotty because power and internet is down. But it will take billions and a long time to rebuild. Thousands will be without power and water, if they still have their home, and there are only a couple roads that travel around the island.
Just down the street from Fleetwoods, there are numerous art galleries in Lahaina including originals from Picasso and Dali and many more world renowned artists.
I was just there a year ago. Really shocking and sad.
