Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz said LSU's coaching and wisdom would present a unique challenge Saturday, especially after the Bayou Bengals' decision to add defensive analyst Pete Jenkins to the staff to assist with the defensive line.

Mizzou responded with its own chess move, adding veteran coach J.B. Grimes to its staff, according to a report from footballscoop.com Wednesday.
Grimes will assist with the Tigers' offensive line, which has dealt with self-inflicted mistakes this season, specifically when it comes to penalties. Mizzou has been called for 34 penalties this season, a majority of those along the offensive line.

A 30-year coaching veteran, Grimes' previous stops include Auburn, Arkansas State, Kansas, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, East Carolina and Virginia Tech, among others.

His path overlapped with Drinkwitz at Arkansas State and Auburn, where Gus Malzahn was the head coach at both stops.

Grimes also made a brief stop at Mizzou in 1984, when he was a volunteer assistant who worked with the offensive line under coach Warren Powers.

LSU added Jenkins, a longtime college coach with a reputation of developing defensive lines, to its staff earlier this week. The Bayou Bengals have allowed 429.4 yards per game this season.
