We grabbed a bagel for breakfast this morning (Shugs!) and a guy and his son sat down next to us. Struck up a conversation. In from Florida, retired and coaching high school baseball. Another son now plays at Baylor. Saw my Mizzou T-shirt and said his catcher followed Jackson from Memphis to Mizzou. Said of Jackson: “He’s the real deal.”
They left and then another guy walks up and gives me an M-I-Z. From St. Louis. Turns out he played with Brad Smith. Walked on after a year at Pittsburg State. Eventually went on scholarship. First name was Jeff but had trouble catching the last name. (Jeff is getting a book, btw.)
All this action on a Saturday, and it’s only noon in Big D.
