In her initial appearance at the Tiger Club of KC, softball coach Larissa Anderson made one thing clear: The first-year Mizzou softball coach and her squad won’t back down in the mighty SEC, the toughest softball conference in the country.
As Mizzou AD Jim Sterk said last May upon announcing the hiring of Coach Anderson, “She is highly-respected within the coaching community, enjoys an outstanding reputation for player development and has had tremendous success at Hofstra, first as an assistant coach, and then for the last four seasons as head coach.”
Coach Anderson’s 2018 Hofstra squad went 41-14, winning their conference tournament, advancing to the NCAA post-season, and earning a No. 24 ranking in the final USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll. Her team ranked 18th in the final RPI, had the nation's 26th toughest schedule, and during the regular season defeated eventual national champion Florida State.
Coach Anderson inherits a Tiger team that last season returned to the NCAA tournament and finished with the No. 26 RPI while playing one of the nation’s toughest schedules. The team’s recently released 56-game schedule for 2019 includes four non-conference tournaments consisting of eight games against 2018 NCAA tournament teams.
The Tiger Club of KC meets each Tuesday during the academic year at the Westport Flea Market Bar & Grill. Lunch begins at 11:30 am with the program beginning at noon. Next week, Todd Leabo of Sports Radio 810 WHB will be our guest.
