Sorry for the sabbatical. Stuffs been crazy. Housing remodel turning from Kitchen and master bed into entire first floor. Getting appliances has been insane (fridge on back order until October).

1. I'll start with 2020 POTUS update. Lets be real. Biden won the dem nom because the powers that be didn't want Bernie to win it. I get it. If Bernie won, I would have voted for the Don. I am not alone in that. Additionally, Bloomberg, Silicon Valley, Celebs, Taylor Swift don't want that wealth tax. So a grand bargain was done. Now the question is, who is pulling the strings? Is it still the money or does Biden control the ship? I think it is the money and I think the selection of Harris was proof of that. Harris doesn't give Biden as much support as a Susan Rice does. Harris destroyed Biden in a debate. There is no way he got over that. Also, Harris is not likeable. When she launched her POTUS campaign, the media loved her, but the public fell out of favor. Here is a NYTimes piece on Harris campaign failure. NBCNews had a report that Harris VP selection gave Biden the worst bump of any VP candidate since they started tracking it in 1992. Harris is from a BLUE State, she doesn't help in a swing state (Tim Kaine was VA). Abrams was from Georgia at least.

I am starting to get concerned that we may have a Red Reaction. Trump bottomed in the polls in July, since then it has been a slow rise. I don't know if there will be a convention bump this year as they are online. In most of the polls this month, Trump is either the same or better than he was in July. Now, it is better to be in the lead than behind. However, I think like last time, there will be a 2-4% swing in Trump's favor on election day.

2. The George Floyd situation and continuing situations in Portland, Seattle, COVID, etc. has taught one thing. We really don't value human life as much any more. We are emotional, reactionary, etc., but we don't really care. I am guilty of it. I said we just have to get through this COVID and people are going to die. Watch this:

I don't care what side you are on, etc., but the last kick to the face shows that person doesn't give a flying eff about humanity at all. Same as Derek Chauvin. It's pretty sad. The Floyd versus Cannon issue is so dumb. My woke in laws are posting about how dumb those pushing the Cannon narrative. We are now competing about which deaths matter more instead of what we should be uniting on, that both cases were despicable and the lack of value of human life is disappearing.

3. Cedar Rapids: Cedar Rapids in shambles after historic storm devastation. It seems that last week, there was a really bad storm in Iowa and that storm got basically ZERO coverage. Free article about people in IA dying from storm. Now I don't get why Trump isn't on his plane there right now. First off, it is IOWA, heartland and neighbor to important states Wisconsin and Minny. I cannot believe the lack of coverage on this. I had no idea about it until someone on FB linked a story. Here is aerial footage of devastation:

4. California Wealth Tax: PASS IT. I hope and pray it passes. I like for states to be the Guinea Pig. If it works in the state, other states will pass it (see legalization of weed). If it doesn't, no one else will do it and that state will drop it. I hoped California would pass Single Payer medical care.

5. COVID: I want to be honest here, I am of the opinion that we need to get through this and live with it. I think waiting for a vaccine is not realistic. Maybe I am wrong, but I thought Sweden's approach was the correct one. I wish US could do what NZ and Taiwan did, but we don't have limited ports of entry like those countries and we have a ridiculous amount of travel internationally (at least we used to). So I think the end game will be living with it. My kids start in school this week and it is depressing to see the conditions and isolation they have even with in person school. I am fortunate that I can work in isolation at my office or at home. Not everyone is so lucky.

Hang on tight, the next 3 years are going to be insane.
