He bleeds black and gold. He loves Missouri. He, on paper, is everything that epitomizes what a Misssouri coach should be. As a player he was a hard working, undersized, fierce competitor who outworked his peers. A guy that got the most out of his abilities and didn't beat himself. A guy that was as tough as they came and also a good athlete.

That's why it is so frustrating to watch his team play football at times. Against Wyoming we were out hustled, out gritted, out worked and we beat ourselves. We had so many ways to beat Wyoning with ease but we didn't take advantage of any of them.

Why haven't the players taken on Odom's persona? Why are we not a physical football team? Why can't we tackle. Why can't we wrap up? Why are we constantly told that one player was out of position and thus a 70yd explosive play happened. That isn't happening when we run the ball. We arent hitting homeruns. Look at the shots that Rountree and Badie took. They were getting clobbered.

We are the team getting beat up. And it makes no sense. Maybe he has succeeded in changing the knucklehead culture that was there towards the end of the Pinkel regime but what we are seeing is a soft football team. Soft. We are getting hit and not dishing it out.

The Cowboys of OSU beat the crap out of us physically. And now the Cowboys of Wyoming did the same thing. The common denominator is that Odom has time to prepare.

But here's my point. Take the preparedness out of the equation. Take the fact that Barry may not be a great X's and O's guy. Tell me why Barry's team cannot tackle or play football with a level of physicality and toughness that resemble their head coach?

It's a head scratcher. What is Odom's identity as a coach? What is this Missouri teams identity?
