I was listening to the Yahoo College Football POD and they were asking a great question about National Signing Day. With it so close to the portal action, would it be better to move it? And if so, when? The arguments are that if a kid can sign in August or September, they can play the senior season without worrying about the recruiting garbage, get locked in and move on with life. Of course, it also opens up the possibility of being recruited over and not being able to do anything about it, or coaching changes that might otherwise affect the decision. Moving it to January or February would allow the portal kids to settle in and give the HS kids time to reevaluate the field before being forced to make a choice. Of course the other option is to do away with the binding agreement all together... Each option has good reasons behind them, and is intended to help the kids. But each one has natural consequences that could hurt the kids too.
So, what would you be for? And why?
