Mizzou's NIL collective and its efforts have been a daily topic of conversation here over the last few months. The collective, now called Every True Tiger Foundation, has been in a period of transition, but is nearing the end stages of that and just about to turn the page to the next chapter in Mizzou's efforts. And to be honest, it's not a next chapter, it's an entirely new book.
I had the chance to meet with Nick Garner, who's been brought in as the new CEO of the collective, which has really combined multiple smaller organizations into one "official" designated bucket for Mizzou's NIL efforts going forward. There will be some announcements in the coming days/weeks with specifics as to what that involves. What I can tell you at this point is that the new organization, as a 501(c)(3), will be focused on the tax benefit to all donors, while aligning Mizzou student-athletes with local charities to help promote their causes. I feel confident they have an understanding of the importance of the "average" fan, which is most of our membership here. The foundation of getting something like this off the ground is the individuals or businesses that can give six and seven figures. But what is going to keep it going is the everyday fan that wants to help, but can't write that type of a check. I know with a lot of things at Mizzou in the past that type of fan has felt ignored as if he doesn't matter. I don't think that will be the case going forward with the collective.
In the next few weeks (I don't want to put an exact timeline on it because I don't want to set a deadline over which I have no control), we're planning to be able to offer PowerMizzou members an exclusive way to donate to the collective that will come with benefits not offered to people who aren't members of the site. We are discussing specifics and goals for that and the minute I can share specifics, I promise I will do so. Our site is the target audience for this. It has been underutilized to this point. That is going to change.
I believe going forward there will be more transparency from the collective. They know that's important. You're not going to know what every kid is being paid specifically, but we hope to be able to share some information as far as where Mizzou stands in its efforts (it's more competitive in terms of the SEC and nationally than I believe is perceived right now) and where it is going. Nick and I have agreed to stay in regular communication and have regular meetings going forward. By being on this site, you guys will be offered the chance to make a direct difference in the NIL space and to receive some exclusive things not offered to the general Mizzou fan. Some time soon, I plan to do a podcast with Nick so you all can hear directly from him. I think you'll have a much better understanding and generally feel quite a bit better about Mizzou's standing and plans than most of you probably do today.
Stay tuned, we'll keep you updated as soon as we can and in as detailed a manner as we can.
