I have been contemplating switching over my TSF donation to one of the NIL organizations. With the news of the new NIL collective, I am curious to get feedback on how much of a $1,000 donation to the TSF fund actually goes to football? If football is your primary motivation for donating to the TSF are we better off taking that money and investing it to NIL? Logically this make sense because the NIL deals will go to the most popular and successful players like Luther Burden and Sam Horn (hopefully) This will benefit the football program so that incoming recruits can understand what the top players make. If we make a commitment to NIL and offer the local kids top money to come to Mizzou and stay home we should have no problem being in the mix year in and year out in the SEC.
I believe in the next 5 years it will take 25 - 40 million dollars a year to field a competitive football roster with the way that NIL is accelerating. On one hand this is crazy to think as fans we are being asked to donate to the TSF, Facility Expansions and Tickets. On the other hand, the collective NIL option now gives a fan a vehicle to contribute and compete with other schools. If Mizzou's collective is significantly lower than Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas and other teams in the SEC, we should not be surprised that our talent will be less than theirs. It truly is becoming a pay to play business.
What does everyone think it will take on an annual basis to raise? Do we have a base of 20,000 fans that would be willing to contribute $1,000 to raise $20 million? If you are a fan that can contribute $1,000 per year; would you be willing to donate more to the collective NIL with the idea that if we do invest more we go from top 20 to top 10 in the country?
This is a long winded way of asking does everyone believe that there are 20,000 + fans out there that want to see Mizzou attract and buy better talent? I would also be curious to see if PM members or some other group could bundle our donations to gain access to the collective NIL and or the football organization to truly learn what it will take to this to the next level and compete nationally?
