Coaches Odom and Hill were both there and were spoke briefly to a very large number of Missouri high school football coaches at the All-state and HOF convention at Tan Tara.
Both coaches were very understandably upbeat and excited and welcomed the HS coaches to attend practices or meetings at Mizzou anytime they wish.
They were very enthusiastically greeted and welcomed by all the coaches in attendance...Vibes were outstanding!
Coach Hill told me he was not sure which bowl they would be attending... but felt it would likely be either the Texas Bowl in Houston or the Belk Bowl in Charlotte.
Three newest members of the Missouri coaches Hall of Fame are John Roderique from Webb City... West Croy from Trenton... and Mark St. Clair from Hannibal.
Odom joke that he could never beat coach St. Clair at Hannibal when he was the coach at Rockbridge... And that Mark reminds him of that every time he sees him!
Andy Hill quipped that it was about time the Hall of Fame committee selected a guy from Trenton.
Coach Rod's career record at Webb City is unbelievable...245 wins against only 24 losses.
Coach Brent Eckley from Jackson was selected for the "Paul Martel Outstanding Service Award."
Coach Larry Burchett from Cass Midway was selected for the Pete Adkins "Power of Influence Award."
On a side note... I visited with one of the vendors who is a former Coach and native of Jenks, Oklahoma.
He says he thinks that Bob Stoops will end up and coaching again from what he has heard... sometime down the road in his native state of Ohio for the Cleveland Browns.
Said he thought that new OU coach Lincoln Riley was an arrogant prick...and that he was not ready and it would start to show as soon as he ran out of Stoops players.
He also said that Baker Mayfield was an arrogant POS and that he could not stand the guy. Said that besides the stories you have heard about the incident in Arkansas (public drunkenness and felony resistance of arrest...which was reduced to a misdemeanor)...and the embarrassing display at kansas... there have been numerous other incidents that were swept under the carpet in Norman.
Lastly... he said he was 90% sure that Gus Malzahn will end up back at Arkansas at the conclusion of this season... says he feels very under-appreciated at Auburn.
Fwiw... I have talked to this guy several times over the years and he is usually pretty spot-on with what he says concerning Oklahoma and Arkansas football.
