Gabe and I just finished up at the William Jewell mega camp. Some notes on a few prospects below.
Garber has seen a flood of interest in recent days, most recently picking up offers from Kansas and Kansas State. He plans to visit Kansas State in the near future, and he said he would like to visit elsewhere, too, as he wants to make a commitment by the end of the summer. Missouri assistant Andy Hill visited Free State recently and talked to Garber when he was there. While he did grow up a Kansas fan, Garber said he would be "interested in any school that's interested in me."
Garber's teammate at Free State, Berry played as a safety last season but plans to play quarterback this year. He participated Friday as a quarterback. A 2020 prospect, he does not yet have any Division I offers, but he has received several camp invites, including from Iowa State, Kansas State and Notre Dame. He plans to attend those camps as a quarterback. Berry, too, spoke with Hill when Hill visited Free State. Garber told me Berry is a "really good athlete;" whether he can play quarterback for a Power 5 school remains to be seen, but he could garner some interest as an athlete.
Lee's Summit North RB Ontario Russell was also present, and he turned some heads by running a 4.47 40-yard dash on Friday. That's serious speed for a guy listed on the camp roster as 6-foot, 210 pounds. We didn't get a chance to speak with Russell, but he'll likely be a guy who Missouri monitors for the first few weeks of the high school season. If the Tiger staff likes what it sees, he could earn an offer.
