First of all it was GREAT to see this clinic started back up by Coach Odom and the Mizzou football staff.
My biggest impression is that Coach Odom has assembled a staff of GREAT guys. They were all there and very actively engaging with all the H.S. Coaches in attendance...and seemed very comfortable and natural in doing so.
Guys make think that all staffs would act this way around a group of HS Coaches...but trust me, it's not always the case...especially with an entire staff
I only sat in on one session...and that was with Coach Odom expressing some very heart felt comments thanking the coaches for their attendance and especially for what they do in developing young men and serving as positive male role models to a lot of young guys that really need that and don't get it anywhere else.
Odom talks and connects really well with H.S. Coaches...mostly because he's so genuine and personable...but also because he WAS one of them at one time and he knows first hand what it's like to be in their shoes.
I then heard Derek Dooley (Mr. Personality) explaining the CORE VALUES of the program and his Offensive Philosophy. I can see why players really like him...he did a GREAT job!
Then Austin Carta-Samuels talked about Quarterback development...and that young guy (he's only 27) is a Ball-of-Fire. He will be hired as a fulltime assistant in the very near future I am quite sure.
They really were hospitable and fed the Coaches really well (BBQ and fried fish for the many Catholic guys).
I had to leave early...but I don't see how any Coach in attendance could have gone away not feeling impressed and much appreciated.
The Clinic did exactly what it needed to do...generate love and very positive feelings towards Mizzou Football.
