Watching this MU football team leaves me with that sickening feeling that Odom and Lock will never lead this team to a winning season. Couldn’t help but laugh at Odom’s statement, “we’re really close” after last nights game. No we’re not - we played Kentucky close, not Auburn or Georgia, or even Florida. Odom’s words are those of a desperate rookie Head Coach who is in over his head - and nothing more than a followup to last weeks theme of “we’re rebuilding”. Still stunned over his confusion on when to use timeouts, or pulling his defense off the field for Kentucky’s obvious fake field goal attempt. Do you really think Odom will coach this team up to a win over a team with slightly better talent - I don’t think so. As for Drew Lock - I never had the feeling he’d carry this team to a come from behind win last night. Yes, some of his numbers were impressive - but I saw a lot of short passes, passes thrown over the wrong shoulder or behind the receiver, and another 50 percent completion night. Do I see a young quarterback like James Franklin, Chase Daniel or even a Corby Jones that can carry a team to victory. No, I see a QB that in year 3 still reminds me of the scatter armed QB with questionable judgement, and almost no running ability that played as a freshman. For those that think Odom and Lock turned the corner last night - good for you. Dream on - what I see is nothing more than “fools gold” - don’t think these individuals will ever lead MU to a winning season. The sooner Odom is out as the Head Coach, and Lock is replaced with a QB that can be a difference maker, the better. Jim Sterk, please don’t prolong this nightmare - I’d be stunned if any of this changes in year 3 with this current team and coaching staff. I hope I’m wrong - but I’ve watched this type of pathetic program too many times in the past 50 years.
