I have no idea about this year. But I posted this last year near the end of the season.

I had a friend on offensive staff. He explained clearly and confidently that Horn was not ready last year. It also seemed like he and his family were comfortable with him getting used to college and him redshirting. It wasn’t that he was not working hard or wasn’t a good kid. He just was in high school the year before and wasn’t possibly going to be ready.

We are used to watching the NFL and seeing rookies play - and it’s generally quite terrible, actually. The step up from high school to college is much bigger.

He has told plenty of people that he plans to start this year. I’m excited to see what happens.

My guess is Drink thought that they could have a decent year last year without Horn (and a LOT of mistakes) but could have a great year this year or next with Horn at the helm. But I don’t really know. It makes sense, though. A 4-8 year last year with 20 INTs probably would have gotten Drink fired.
