One of the more common critiques Drink and co have faced is lack of player development. It’s been said that he can get high level talent to town, but they don’t significantly improve once they arrive. Going into this season, I generally agreed with that take.
It’s over. Dead wrong. The past few weeks have proved this staff can absolutely develop and improve talent. Cook’s the most obvious answer, but from Burden to the corners to Schrader, everyone’s leveled up. Tollison might be the most dramatic success stories. He’s grown from a massive liability to serviceable-at-worst.
The past few weeks have been put up or shut up time for Drink. They’re putting up, largely because they’re proving they can develop high level players.
Good shit. Hope they keep it up.
