For those that watch Hard Knocks, you might have noticed St. Louis-born linebacker Christian Kirksey asking guys to write down their "Why I play football" and looking at it every morning and night in episode 2. He mentioned money, family or using football to rise above bad things they were doing.
I've been on PM since 2004 and remember some people wondering why Mizzou wasn't recruiting him out of Hazelwood East in 2010 and some explaining via comments about him being "economically active in the community."
I totally understand that some kids never rise above knucklehead status but I'm glad to see he's doing well and hope that we can use him as the example of how some kids may turn it around the next time Mizzou is recruiting some at-risk kids facing situations we might not understand.
