As recruitment picked up for Brayton Feister this past month, one program received insight into his potential from a mutual connection.

Class of 2026 four-star offensive tackle Sam Greer, a top target of Missouri, gave a rave review of Feister to the Tigers during an evaluation process by the staff. On Jan. 23, offensive assistant Brendan Boylan offered the Class of 2027 four-star linebacker.

"Sam really likes (Missouri), so he always talks very highly," said Feister, who has leaned on Greer's recruiting knowledge during his own process. "He put in a good word for me, and then that's when they started looking at me. Then the offer came."

Feister and Greer are teammates at Akron (Ohio) Hoban, a region of the country Boylan specializes in recruiting. Feister, who leaped into the Rivals250 at No. 119, has picked up 14 offers through his sophomore year.

"Man, Brayton is a straight dawg!" Greer wrote to MizzouToday. "He's extremely explosive and has crazy strength. He's going to be a top prospect in his class, and I'm excited to see his growth."

Feister was impressed by his conversation with Boylan and what he learned about Missouri as well as the assistant's background in Ohio.

"He was a really standup guy, really interesting," Feister said.

There's currently no leader for Feister, who carries a humble nature to his recruitment, seeing every offer as an opportunity to play at the next level. He also hasn't looked into any of the new schools recruiting him yet, planning to narrow down his list this summer.

Although listed as a linebacker, Feister started primarily at running back while rotating at edge defender and strong safety during his sophomore season. He'll start at linebacker in 2025.

With that versatility, Feister has fielded interest as an athlete at the next level. His mental toughness become a big calling card in what collegiate programs liked about him.

"I want to play wherever is going to get me to the NFL," Feister said. "That's whatever my highest ceiling is, whatever position possible, whatever coach thinks that, 'Hey, I see your highest potential here,' then that's what I'm going to do."

Amid his wrestling season, one that's strengthened his mindset through adversity, Feister hasn't scheduled any unofficial visits for this spring. He's taken past trips to Akron, Notre Dame, Penn State and Tennessee.
