We had a little early morning discussion going today at work regarding rules in sports that make no sense, or are routinely misapplied and/or ignored such that they may as well not even be in place. There a bunch of usual suspects that will get thrown out there, but I'll get us started with this one...
A defender gets a flag for even briefly grasping the facemask during an attempted tackle. A player gets flagged for hands to the face if, in an attempt to block or defeat a block, his hands get up into the opponent's face/facemask. But a ball carrier can basically grab a defender's facemask and pull him down while attempting to stiff arm the would-be tackler, but that doesn't get flagged?
