The Pac-12's efforts to secure a new media deal in the face of realignment has hit another major snag.

According to CBS Sports, ESPN “appears to be out as an option to take the Pac-12’s primary media rights.” Per the report, ESPN may have an interest in taking on a smaller rights package for their lower-tier college football games, but they won't be breaking the bank to take up the entire conference.

"[This is the] first time publicly [ESPN] said, 'We're not doing anything with the Pac-12,'" an anonymous Big 12 administrator told CBS Sports.

Losing ESPN is a pretty significant blow to the Pac-12's hopes in both finding a major network and surviving in the current realignment climate.
