I've been in Tennessee for a few days this week and have been asking a lot of fans what they think about the game vs. our beloved Tigers. Most seem very confident, not cocky though,in their changes of winning on Sat. Many point to the fact that the Vols have been improving throughout the year, have beaten two top 25 teams including a 24-7 drubbing of KY and it's Senior Day at Neyland Stadium. I have to say I hate that last part the most. I didn't debate anyone and wished them luck but did become a little nervous. It didn't help my confidence by watching TN news and a special preview show that featured TN's 1988 national championship. They also showcased highlights from some of their seniors including a fake FG that a holder scored a TD on against Mizzou. That was frustrating to see. These fanes are in some denial about recent history and the jury is still out on their head coach. I do think this will be a battle if we don't take the crowd of over 100,000 people out of the game early. A giraffe at the Lexington zoo that makes weekly picks on Vols games picked Mizzou today so we have that going for us. I love giraffes now.
Weather is expected to be 58 degrees at kickoff with a slight breeze and 50 by the end of the game. It will be sunny and dry which favors our passing and running games. I hope Crockett is a beast and they let E. Hall run free!
It's my first time in Knoxville so I am looking forward to all the tradition that I've heard about through the years. I'll let you know how it went. I'll be checking out the Vol Walk which everyone down here claims is a sight to behold. I will also check out the Vol Navy boats that tailgate along the Tennessee river. Hope to see other PMers at Calhoun's on the river and in the Mizzou section A. Be loud!
