Gonna be brief, long day.
1. I'm flummoxed MSU doesn't have better results on the year. They're a really imposing team, and they can shoot it a bit.
2. Mizzou 3 point shooting first ~30 minutes
Clean Looks: 4-20
Contested looks: 1-2
3. Mizzou all shots last ~10 minutes
Clean: 4-6
Contested: 6-17
4. It's simple. Against a talented front line like MSU, you HAVE to be able to hit outside shots if your primary action is dribble penetration from guards. If you don't? You're gonna be faced with a boatload of contested shots. And guess what? MSU is pretty good at that.
5. On balance, mizzou played pretty well today. Their first half defense was lacking, but rebounded well with a strong second. It's pretty much impossible for this squad to be better on offense than they were today if you have to assume they're gonna shoot 6-29. And if you want clean looks, you have to taken the open 3's. We did, we didn't convert.
6. Mizzou did work the paint a bit more via the pass with 12 such possessions. The Tigers scored on 10 of those (either make or ft)
Dribble penetration to paint: 13-36 possessions scored
No paint: 3-17
Two Saturdays in a row that the long ball sunk the good guys.
