In the Kentucky game, their punter purposefully held the ball an extra count or two before he punted. Thus enabling his cover guys to get an additional 10-yards downfield.
It looked like the Vanderbilt punter did the same thing a few times but not as obvious.
I wonder if the Tigers give something away on film indicating they are not rushing the punt. If so, the opposing punter can wait an additional “ one thousand one or one thousand two” before kicking. That could partially explain the Rigers lack of successful punt returns.
I know some will use this an an opportunity to bash Andy Hill.
However, I am not one of those, just making an observation. I could be totally wrong but it appears there is no sense of urgency by the opposing punter to get the punt away.
Anyone else notice this?
