Maty Mauk is the starting QB. Question: When do you play Drew Lock? Answer: When you want to score? Seriously, there is no doubt Lock is a far more talented QB. Drew could be the best ever at Mizzou. Should he start or even play most of the game? My answer is no. However, Lock should play at least 1/4 to 1/3 of the game. He needs to be brought along medium slowly. There is a saying that if play two QBs then you don't have a starting QB. However, this is a very unique situation. Mack wins (ugly) and has the experience. Lock is far more talented when it comes passing skills, reading the defense, seeing the field, and delivering the ball on time in the right location. Both QBs can run the offense, but they bring different problems to the enemy defense. I said during the summer that for Mizzou to be good this season (great chance to win the East again)...Drew Lock would not only play but play an important role in the Tigers' success. Could Lock start in a few weeks? A lot depends whether Mack can move the team and put up points. But, it must be super to have a talent like Lock waiting in the wings and available to put points on the board and to be the captain of "Air Mizzou", if needed. The biggest question for the season currently rests on the health and productivity of the running backs. IMO, Mauk can not win big games without a good running game. Many needs the offense to be balanced. If the offense is balanced for Lock, Drew will put up points like Chase Daniel used to do in the first half of games his junior year. He they sell out to stop the run, he will kill them with passes. He the defense sells out to stop the pass, then a good run game will carve them up and control the clock (keeping the Tiger defense off of the field). QB controversy? No, I'd rather consider it a two headed monster. Tigers will need both QBs (and the team) to be sharp to beat UK in Lexington. This will be a huge game for both teams...especially if the Cats are still undefeated.
