1. The defense played excellently

The defense had South Carolina's offense in a straight jacket. The Gamecocks could do nothing right really or get anything going.

The run game was awful. They averaged 2.4 yards per rush, 9.4 yards per completion and 4.1 yards per play.

Mizzou held them to 3-of-13 on third down and the Gamecocks' average distance on third down was 6.7 yards.

This was by far the Tigers' best defensive game versus a Power 5 opponent all season.

2. The offense was good, not great.

The offense punted on its first drive and then reeled off four straight scoring drives with three of them being touchdowns. Then, on its first possession out of halftime, it tried to punt but bobbled the snap and didn't get a punt off which led to South Carolina getting the ball inside Mizzou's 35-yard line.

The Gamecocks only got a field goal out of it, so it wasn't that bad but that's not ideal. Then the Tigers went three and out on the next possession,

So, the offense was good, not great but it didn't have to be.

The Tigers recorded a season-high 221 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries (5.5 yards per carry).

Brady Cook completed 58% of his passes for 198 yards and a touchdown. He also added nine carries for 61 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Cody Schrader had a season-high of 159 rushing yards on a Missouri career-high of 26 carries. He also had a couple of touchdowns.

3. However, Mizzou took the second half off.

Let me preference this by saying the defense didn't take the second half off or sleepwalk through it. Just the offense.

It seemed like after halftime Mizzou just wanted to get out of the game and head to the bye week.

But when you're that good you don't have to play for a full game. This is two weeks in a row Mizozu has kind of taken part of the game off and won by 17 or more points.
