Nothing groundbreaking but Drink's comment that Gabe referenced was very intentional and is something the entire AD is aware of.
As people referenced in Gabe's post, there needs to be a way for those that don't have businesses or $100,000's of disposable income to contribute toward NIL opportunities for players. It could be having players sells shirts or pooling money to give to a business to set up a NIL opportunity. The University can have no part in setting up such a thing and the influential boosters don't need it to make an impact but these sort of opportunities are being worked on at other schools and will need to be set up at Mizzou as well. This will likely require an individual or group to help raise, manage and facilitate the funds and right now that doesn't exist. I don't know what the answer is but it’s something that is being discussed and needs to be figured out sooner than later.
Given this is the demographic most likely to participate in NIL opportunities, I would be curious to hear thoughts on what this could look like and any other thoughts surrounding the matter.
I will end with something I have heard from multiple people within the program – NIL money will be what gets and keeps players at Mizzou (or any other football program for that matter). Drink’s comments, Hood’s post the other day and other comments have all said the same thing – promises were made and money talks. I can’t tell anyone how to spend their money but I can say it will be the money spent by fans that determines the level of talent we have on the field.
