Another player many of us grew up watching passed away today, Tim McCarver. Many knew him as a long time analyst but he was a big part of the Cardinals' teams that went to 3 WS in the 1960s. Appeared in the majors at 17.

Great story teller. My favorite was Gibson was getting hit pretty hard one inning and McCarver started out to the mound to talk to Gibson. Gibson looked up and saw him coming and told him to get back behind the plate because the only thing he (Mccarver) knew about pitching was that he had a hard time hitting it.
