Here are a few updates for you:

After Lutheran North offensive lineman Jack Buford announced his commitment to Missouri on Wednesday, he mentioned the names of three other St. Louis area prospects who he hopes to bring with him to Columbia. One of those players, Trinity wide receiver Marcus Washington, was on Missouri’s campus Saturday for a seven-on-seven tournament. Washington said that, indeed, Buford’s commitment could help the Tigers land other area prospects, including himself.

“(Buford’s commitment) could jump Mizzou’s recruiting real well,” Washington said. “He’s a good player. He’s a program changer to me. It definitely got everybody in St. Louis’ eyes on Mizzou.”

Washington said he was able to chat with several members of the Missouri coaching staff between games Saturday, including head coach Barry Odom and wide receivers coach A.J. Ofodile. He said one of the things he likes most about the Tigers is his relationship with the staff. Multiple times, Washington said the staff “treats me like family.”

While Washington never said a negative word about Missouri, the Tigers will face stiff competition for the four-star wideout. Asked which other schools have been recruiting him hardest, Washington listed Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia and Oregon. He already has an official visit scheduled at Ohio State on the weekend of June 23.

Washington said he plans to take other official visits during the summer, he just has not scheduled them yet. He didn’t reveal a timeline for when he would like to announce his commitment.

At last weekend’s Lindenwood mega camp, Kirkwood wide receiver Maurice Massey said he was just beginning the process of rebuilding his relationship with the Missouri coaching staff. That relationship took a step forward Saturday.

Massey, too, participated in the seven-on-seven event, and prior to his first game, he ran a 40-yard dash for head coach Barry Odom. Massey doesn’t know what his time was, but he said Odom looked down at his stopwatch and flashed Massey a thumbs up. He then told Massey to stop by his office later in the day.

Massey, who committed to Iowa State in December but decommitted in April, said that until recently, he hadn’t received much attention from the Tiger staff since his sophomore year of high school. However, he said he will be interested in Missouri if the staff maintains interest in him. He would also like to include Missouri in a wide-ranging tour of campus visits this summer. Massey listed Alabama, Louisville, Kentucky, Oregon and Ole Miss as schools he would like to unofficially visit in the coming months.

Williams will officially visit Ohio State on June 22. That's the only visit he currently has scheduled, though he said he's looking at setting up some others. On March 26, Williams tweeted a top eight of Florida State, Nebraska, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, USC and UCLA.

He said he's working on a top five and looking to commit early in the fall. I asked him if Mizzou was keeping in touch.

"I just had a talk with most of the staff, coach Dooley, coach Odom, coach AJ. All the guys came and talked to me so that's something we can build on."

Williams is rail thin, but he's a long strider and had four touchdown catches while I was watching. Doesn't appear right now that Missouri has a good shot, but they're keeping in touch and you never know.

Cooper told me he's hoping to set up official visits to Clemson and Oregon this summer, but he doesn't plan to make a commitment before the season. Missouri is definitely still in the mix here and getting some other St. Louis kids could be a big help.

Chaminade did not make the trip but Cook came up on his own and was playing on a renegade team. After 7 on 7 he planned to talk to Derek Dooley and Barry Odom. He is going to Northwestern next weekend, Notre Dame after that and Iowa on June 24th. He said Iowa, Iowa State and Indiana are regularly in touch in addition to Mizzou. In the past he's called Mizzou his dream school.

"They really want to evaluate me today. To me, they seem interested, but they haven't mentioned an offer yet. I'm just going to wait and keep competing. I want to get in front of them as much as I can."

Cook will definitely be a guy to watch over the next few months.

Other guys that were not participating in 7 on 7 but have said they're going to be on campus today for unofficial visits
