FOOTBALL Scheduling Question

How does the process of scheduling future football games actually work? Is it is simple as one AD calls another and they just put in on the books? I’m sure all the fans at Mizzou would love to have a home and away, like we did with K St, with the likes of Kansas and Nebraska. Their fans would love it too and I’m sure nationally people would like it. What stops that from happening etc? Thanks! MIZ
