1. My story will be this: Georgia looked beatable on Saturday. That doesn't happen often. When it does, you need to take advantage of it. There is nothing wrong with a relatively close loss to the No. 2 team in the country. But today feels like a giant missed opportunity.
2. If officials are going to be so reliant on instant replay, they really should have goal line cameras at every game. Or don't be so reliant on replay. The system is stupid and too often doesn't work. As @mitchell4d has said, why do you have to default to what was called? Look at the video and if the call was wrong, even if it's not 100% completely conclusive evidence, change it. The forward progress thing happens. It's not a reviewable play. But the far more damaging one to me was the dropped ball on the 1. I think he dropped it. But based on the rules of replay, there's no way in hell they could reverse the call.
3. We finally saw the tight ends be what we thought the tight ends could be. Albert Okwuegbunam and Kendall Blanton combined for 112 yards on 12 catches, most of the damage being done by Albert O. They're really good. And I'm not at all sure either one of them is going to be playing college football a year from now.
4. The defense played admirably for a while. But eventually you knew the dam was going to break. Georgia has a lot of weapons and by the time the offense figured out how to get out of its own way, the defense just didn't have a whole lot left. Still, they came up with a stop and a blocked field goal to keep hope alive until there were five minutes left.
5. I wonder if a healthy Emanuel Hall changes this game at all? He really wasn't a factor. And Missouri didn't hit anything deep. As impressive as the Missouri passing game has been at times, I think we saw a major difference in the Tigers and an elite team today. Georgia has at least two guys who would far and away be Missouri's No. 1 wideout. And they might have more than that.
6. I tend to stay out of the attendance arguments. And I know Missouri had an almost full house. But you've got a 60,000 seat stadium. 8000 Georgia fans came. And there aren't 52000 Missouri fans who can come see an unbeaten team play the No. 2 team in the country on a postcard of a day? That's bad. Assuming the Tigers won't come back any better than 4-2, I don't have any faith in Missouri fans to match this attendance figure all year. It's a problem. You want to know why Missouri is having trouble finding money? More than anything else it's because not enough people are coming out to watch the football games.
