1. What letdown? Good teams keep bad teams down. Missouri left no doubt. They jumped on Arkansas early and made the Razorbacks quit. Actually, watching Arkansas today made me appreciate what Barry Odom has done in November the last three seasons a little more. He's coached teams that could have given up at times during all three of those seasons. They never did. It's not quite as easy as it sounds. He deserves credit for it.
2. Next year's backfield is going to be really good. Damarea Crockett and Larry Rountree III both have 1,000 yard seasons to their credit. Some time early next year, Rountree will go over 2,000 for his career. When he does, Mizzou will have two active running backs who both have 2,000 career yards for the first time in school history. Oh, by the way, Tyler Badie and Simi Bakare will be on the roster too.
3. Mizzou's defense deserves more credit than it will get for the last four weeks. None of the teams they faced are offensive juggernauts, but the Tigers made three of the four look flat out incompetent. They got a good amount of pressure, they tackled well and they were flying all over the field.
4. Jordan Elliott is really going to ease the pain of losing Terry Beckner Jr. Coming into Friday, the team-high for Missouri AS A TEAM was three sacks. Elliott had three on his own against the Razorbacks. He's got a chance to be really, really good.
5. You guys should appreciate eight wins. This marks only the 16th time Missouri has done it in 129 years of football. Yes, it's easier to do it now than it used to be, but it's still a nice accomplishment. Jim Sterk, get that extension ready.
6. Up next: Bowl game. I still think the Music City is the most likely, but the Taxslayer and the Outback are not out of the picture at all. Wherever they go, we'll be there.
