The one from Saturday in which a source told Jeff they'd be "shocked" if Michael wasn't playing in St. Louis.

Initially, I rolled my eyes at the entire story, just as I'm sure so many did here. My knee-jerk reaction was that it was just kicking the can further down the road. Keeping the story alive, name in the headlines, etc. But what's interesting is to consider the latest Goodman report in the context of what happened on February 22, when MPJ was cleared:

The 22nd, of course, was when MPJ got full medical clearance in Dallas... Jon Rothstein broke it on Twitter in the afternoon... and Mizzou fans threw a collective party. Goodman's "not for sure he'll return" story tried to throw some cold water on it, but many of us were too excited to take it seriously.

The reason I'm thinking about that today... whoever Goodman's source is (MPJ? Porter family? associate?) absolutely DOES NOT have a history of being sunshine and rainbows about this. I think most of us, myself included, initially took Goodman's leak on Saturday (MPJ not playing vs. Arky, but very likely in STL) as a bit of sunshine-pumping to keep hope alive or whatever... but when you actually look at Goodman's reporting (and I think it's highly likely we're talking about the same source), that has NOT been the typical M.O.

I'm still not 100% assuming MPJ will play until we see him out there, but after thinking it over, the Goodman "shocked if he doesn't" report feels a little more reputable than it did on Saturday morning (at least to me).
