Now, let me say, coaching was part of it. Last night was a meltdown on every front (I say this after having watched up until it was 28-0 when I got home today...after that, I'll catch up tonight or tomorrow, but none of it really mattered). But I've seen more complaints about coaching and how Cross particularly, (Heupel too, but less so) is a moron. Let me give you some examples of why it's not necessarily always coaching:
On the first LSU drive, Newsom drops into coverage. Etling never sees him. Newsom flat out drops a pick. Right call, great scheme, kid didn't make a play he needs to make.
Second Mizzou drive, they've got a first down if Black can make a catch. He dropped it. That's not coaching.
Third Mizzou drive, perfect play call from the LSU 47, two guys are open, including Culkin who is basically by himself. Lock throws it off his back foot to no one in particular for one of the worst INTs you'll see. Not coaching, not playcalling. Terrible play.
Now, I will be the first to say there absolutely WERE some questionable coaching decisions and some of it contributes to Missouri losing in terrible fashion last night. But after any loss, you see so much, "This coach is an idiot" without any real evidence of WHAT was done incorrectly that I thought it was worth pointing out a few game-changing plays that had absolutely nothing to do with coaching.
