With no game this weekend, the next few days are obviously a little different as far as content and such. As we stressed yesterday, regardless of whether it's Florida, Vandy or someone else, we're expecting Mizzou to have a game next weekend, even if it means shuffling the schedule around.
Which leads me to my point: The schedules we have on paper are a guideline. They're plan A. They may or may not happen. Games are going to be moved around and the schedule matrix guys are going to become the MVPs. It happened in MLB, it's happening in the NFL, it's going to happen in college football.
But they're going to keep playing. Once they started, they're not stopping unless we get hospitalizations or deaths. They committed to this thing in August and they're not turning back. Now, even the people who had turned back are on board. They're going to power through a season. Whether it will be a normal season or everybody plays the same number of games or whatever, who knows, but they're playing, It's no longer about whether you think that should happen or not, it's happening.
The last couple of weeks it really felt like football season to me. There were a number of games on, I was flipping channels, and it almost seemed normal. Then this week has kind of reminded us that it's not normal and it won't be for at least the rest of this season. I think once the games started and went for a couple weeks a lot of us just kind of got into "it's football season mode" and then this week we got a reminder, "Oh yeah, there's still a bunch of crap going on too."
I'm gonna finish this with a reminder/plea to everyone: The games are being played. Yes, COVID is going to have an impact on them. Yes, teams are having to stop and start and high profile people are contracting the virus and all that. Those things (which games are being played, who's out, etc) are topics this board is obviously interested in and going to discuss. BUT FROM HERE FORWARD, WE ARE DISCUSSING THE IMPACT ON FOOTBALL AND GAMES BEING PLAYED, NOT YOUR PERSONAL OPINIONS ON COVID OR HOW IT IS BEING HANDLED. For months, this board was nothing but those opinions. Because no sports were going on, we let it go and everyone got to say his piece. WE ALL KNOW HOW EVERYONE FEELS. For the most part now, it's about 20 people who are still doing one of two things: Trolling to get the board riled up or injecting their political views into multiple threads because they are incapable of having a discussion without doing so. IT WILL STOP. I will stop it if I need to. Deleting posts doesn't seem to be working because the same 20 people keep doing the same things. There have been plenty of warnings. I'll handle it. My decisions will be final. If you wonder if you should post your thoughts on the virus, you probably shouldn't.
THE ONLY PLACE I WANT TO SEE THAT STUFF (WHERE I WON'T SEE IT) IS IN THE COVID THREAD OR THE OFF TOPIC BOARD. Other than that, we're sticking to how it impacts football. If you start derailing threads with your views on wearing masks or politics or what you think should happen or any of the rest of it, I'll handle it. If you are not capable of following this one simple request, the board will be better if you can't post here. If you start to post something, ask yourself "Does this relate to sports or is this my opinion that isn't about sports being played?" If it's the latter, don't post it. If you aren't sure, don't post it.
