Am told unequivocally that there was no dinner between Caleb Love and Dennis Gates in Columbia this week.

I will say up front, I suppose it is possible that someone is just flat out lying to me, but I would think the approach if it was actually true would just be to ignore me. Anyway:

1) Love is not technically recruitable yet (or at least wasn't as of Wednesday night). He can say he's opening up his recruitment, but the school still has up to 48 hours to process everything before he is back in the portal and recruitable by other schools.

2) Wednesday night was a quiet period and Thursday began a dead period. Quiet period means there is no off campus recruiting contact. Dead period means no on or off campus in person contact. So if Dennis were to be having dinner with a recruit somewhere off campus on Wednesday night, it would take some gymnastics to make that anything other than against the rules.

As it was put to me "Let's say for some reason it was true, it would be really stupid to do it in a public place"

3) Love has already said he doesn't need to visit Missouri or anywhere he's previously visited before. What could he accomplish over a dinner that he couldn't accomplish on a phone call or a Zoom call (Which would be absolutely permissible and much less likely to draw any attention)

It's certainly possible Missouri is going to pursue Caleb Love again. None of this changes that. However, I do not believe that he was in Columbia having dinner with Dennis Gates this week based on what I've been told. I don't know if that matters or not and I'm not specifically trying to call anyone out or crap on anybody. Just trying to do the best I can to present you all accurate information and I know the Love thread has taken off since the tweet about him being in Columbia for a dinner and I think that is probably a little premature.
