So we (group of buddies) made the trip over from KC Wednesday night for the PGA.....STL can’t handle a major golf tournament (course was beautiful by the way @pwc ), but it was very evident the city just doesn’t have the facilities or infrastructure to support an event of this size....and the STL didn’t do enough to support the planning to take care of the patrons in attendance today....first off, you couldn’t get a cold beverage on the course after 2 pm....I tried three different concession stands and two drink oasis’s.....warm beer, warm waters, warm gatorades and sodas. I asked someone in charge and was told “just weren’t prepared”. Nice. Credit cards went down at 12:30....cash only. Then the rain came about 3:15....and the STL showed why they it’s just too big of an event for this city to handle.....taking an Uber to a bus lot (no parking available. then a bus to the golf course Is no way to mass transport 40k-50k people....then when the rains came....yeah, it was a three hour ordeal just to get off the premises and back to a shuttle lot so we could Uber back to he hotel in post rush hour traffic....now....KC couldn’t support this event either, but at least KC is intelligent enough to not try....today was a monumental failure on numerous levels. Great enthusiasm for the event however...from all neighboring states trying to get to the event. Just wish STL could have supported it.
