Had a chance to watch these two scrimmage on Saturday. Sunrise is headed to NYC on Wednesday to play in the Geico "High School" National Tournament. ESPN is televising.
* 2020 N'Faly Dante (C, 6'11) - The #8 ranked player in the Class of 2020 has all of the tools to be one of the best to ever come out of Sunrise. Has some growing up to do and could take coaching better. A coach told me who was in attendance, "He's outgrown this playground. He needs to get his head beat in at the college level."
Received a technical in the scrimmage for throwing a ball at one of the MoKan coaches.
* 2019 Grant Sherfield (PG, 6'2) Decommitted from UCLA after the coaching change. Kid is a difference maker and makes everyone around him better. Doesn't force shots and can fill the stat sheet up.
* Austin Crowley (G, 6'1) Decommitted from Vanderbilt after the coaching change. Has offers from Ole Miss, Florida, Creighton and others. Silky smooth guard who is going to grow another 3-4 inches over the next two years. He's a baller.
* Jordan Turner (F, 6'8) Committed to Baylor. He's the most "Baylor" player ever. Long and athletic. Will be an all Big-12 performer by his junior year.
MoKan:
They hung with the talented Sunrise squad. They are tough and gritty.
* Davion Bradford (Mehlville) (C, 6'10)
Has 15 commitable DI offers. Love this kid. He's tough and he battled Dante for two hours and most would say he more than held his ground. On the defensive end he loses his man too often when the shot goes up. Easily fixable and a very coachable kid. Has also dealt with far more in his personal life than any young man should endure.
* Mike Peake ( BVSW) (PF, 6'7)
At 6’7, Peake brings a well-rounded skill set to the floor with the ability to create off the dribble, get to the basket and finish above the rim. He is a versatile defender who can guard big men or switch out and defend on the perimeter. He's hungry and it shows on the court.
* Cobin Porter (Father Tolton) (G, 6'3)
This young man is poised for a break out summer. Not blessed with the size of his siblings, but he has improved his outside game considerably. Cobin will be a solid contributor at the mid-major level IMO.
Was told Staley is going to have a couple of transfers that will make them the team to beat in KC next season.
