Interesting Q&A article on Texas HS recruiting. This is similar to the recruiting article @gfuray posted on South Carolina where HS coaches answer questions on colleges recruiting their state. The article is not free though.
https://theathletic.com/2707348/202...-horns-vs-aggies-and-whos-invading-the-state/

A few highlights:
  • Texas HS coaches have an exceptional amount of power. If a college offers a kid without first checking in with the HS coach, then that college will not get that kid. Also, if you're a college coach, you better respond promptly to emails/texts from Texas HS coaches. I have no idea if this is similar in other states.
  • Texas HS coaches HATED Tom Herman. Apparently he was arrogant and dismissive - shocking.
  • They also don't seem to like Dana Holgorsen at Houston.
  • Coaches are fairly lukewarm on Jimbo. Apparently neither he nor his staff are very responsive, but if he likes a kid, he'll do a good job recruiting. They also said he was very trustworthy and everyone respected him.
  • Mizzou received a few mentions. A few coaches called out Luper and Aaron Fletcher as some of the top out-of-state recruiters.
  • Ra’Shaad Samples (SMU RB coach) was mentioned quite a bit as a top recruiter and someone who will be signed by a larger school soon.
  • Kansas WR coach Emmett Jones was also mentioned multiple times as an effective recruiter.
  • Quite a bit more in the article.
I did sign up for six months of The Athletic for $6. After the six month window, it's ~$100 per year. I'm hoping if I do decide to cancel, I can do it online. I hate having to call and talk with someone whose sole job is to make sure I don't cancel.
