First...I was in the keep Odom camp. I thought he was making progress. I wanted to see changes in his staff, but thought he had done a good job.
That aside, and we aren't getting a young up and comer with alot of enthusiasm...everyone else is in the same group and skill set. We aren't going to recruit elite athletes. We aren't going to end up bigger, faster and stronger than other SEC schools...so we'd better do something different. Well...lining up and running the ball in some sort of option, or triple wing or whatever Monken runs is different. It's also a ball control type of approach that keeps defenses off the field...and moves the chains. College games are so long with so many plays in them...and everyone has gone to some short of passing game offense....Our only chance to beat some of these teams may be to line up and run the ball. It seems boring....but there's nothing more demoralizing than lining up and running it down someones throat for four quarters. Defenses wear out in these long college games. If we truly want to be different and win....this is probably our best option.
