FOOTBALL RECRUITING

It's pretty quiet here and will be for a bit. The month of August is a dead period at least until 48 hours before the first game of the season. Mizzou will surely bring some prospects in for the opener (though not a ton because it's a Thursday night game and most of them will have a high school game on Friday) but until then, you're not going to have anyone on campus and there won't be any off campus recruiting.

We do have a few notes for you

- Jones is the latest 2025 offer for Missouri that visited on Thursday of last week, picking up an offer from the Tigers while he was on campus. Missouri likes him as a tight end target. He's only been committed to Nebraska for just over a month and the Huskers like him as a wide receiver or defensive back. Louisville was making a strong push before a late June visit to Nebraska changed things. It will be interesting to see if Missouri can flip the Kentucky native. For now, he doesn’t appear in a hurry to make a decision and may be waiting to see what other options come his way during the season.

- Speaking of tight ends, Missouri has had plenty of 2026 targets on campus at that position throughout the summer. That group of visitors included the following...

Isaac Jensen - Camped in June and picked up an offer from the Tigers. STORY HERE
Evan Jacobsen - Also camped during June and was offered STORY HERE
JC Anderson - Didn't visit this summer, but did for a spring practice. Rivals250 prospect.
Jack Utz - Has visited multiple times already, competed at Mizzou's 7-on-7 tournament. STORY HERE
Mack Sutter - Visited this past weekend. Rivals250 prospect that was also offered by Georgia last week.
Camden Jensen - Rivals250 prospect out of Colorado that visited in June. STORY HERE

- ICYMI, we caught up with a couple of Missouri's top 2026 targets in Rivals250 QB Michael Clayton II and four-star OL Maxwell Riley, the No. 9 player in the class.

MISSOURI "EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS" FOR RILEY

Clayton has emerged as the most likely top QB target in the 2026 class. Missouri is in a good position with him. He's going to take some visits during the season and Mizzou will be one. Whenever he cuts down his list, Mizzou will be on it. It's not commit watch or anything, but it was around this time last year that Matt Zollers started to emerge as a priority for the staff and we think the same is happening with Clayton.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING

Earlier this week, we confirmed that five-star Jalan Haralson will take an official visit on September 21. He'll visit Purdue the following week. He visited Auburn officially last fall and Bruce Pearl and his staff are still recruiting Haralson heavily. From what we've gathered, Indiana and Notre Dame are in the mix there as well and Kansas and Gonzaga have recently turned up the attention. One source we talked to believes the Jayhawks are a major threat here, another thinks it's more Auburn and the in-state schools. Either way, Mizzou will get its shot to impress him in September.

Mizzou already has Aaron Rowe on board and Nicholas Randall has visited multiple times and the Tigers seem to be in a pretty good spot with him. We don't see this class going over three high school players. Missouri took five last year and as one person told us this week "In this day and age, you can't have ten freshmen and sophomores on your roster." That's especially true now that rosters are going to be capped at 15 in the near future. If you have 18 guys, you might be able to stash a couple developmental young guys if they understand the situation coming in. But if you can only carry 15, there's no way you're going to use 2/3 of it on first and second year players unless they're can't miss pro type of guys who are definitely going to play early. Most guys aren't that (maybe the top 10-15 in each class).

Other potential names to watch would be Chuck Love (who is a teammate of Haralson now at La Lumiere) and Terrion Burgess. Anything can happen over the following weeks and months, but at this time, it seems Mizzou's class is likely to consist of some combination of these five guys. Again, they won't take more than three unless there's attrition in the program between now and the November signing period, which seems incredibly unlikely. The rest of the action will come in the spring after the season when it's a little bit more clear who's staying and who's going from the current roster.

We'll keep you updated on anything that develop as always.
