Camp is over, which means the Chamber is back to 100% recruiting. Gabe and Mitchell will have the ultimate preview for that week's game up on Saturday morning. We'll break down matchups, give you some over/unders, make individual and team predictions and pick every SEC game. So that frees up Friday mornings for Joe Walljasper and recruiting news. So let's get to it:

FOOTBALL RECRUITING

- As we mentioned in last week's Chamber, Young told us he is planning to commit during his first home game of the season. That is today, so we'll see if it actually goes down. We're getting conflicting information here. Some say it will be Mizzou, others do not think so. We don't know at this point.

- My first stop in St. Louis yesterday was at Parkway North where I was able to catch up with safety target Jalani Williams for an extensive interview, which we posted earlier today. To rehash, it's pretty much a three team race. LSU will get the first shot on September 8th. That will be Williams' first time there. Mizzou will get his second official the weekend they host Georgia, then he'll head to Alabama the week after that.

October 12th is the date he told us he plans to announce his commitment and he plans to have an announcement at his school. As we've mentioned recently, it seems he's trending toward Missouri ever since he visited for Night at the Zou last month and in talking to his head coach yesterday, he made reference that Jalani and CJ Boone representing their home school seems appealing to both (Boone is announcing on September 15th and we consider Mizzou the favorite).

- Massey was extremely impressive in Kirkwood's 37-28 win over Francis-Howell last night. He had 122 yards receiving on seven receptions including a touchdown. He was catching balls in the middle of the field, on the outside edge, on quick screens, and he also gained a few yards rushing on a handful of end arounds.

His size obviously provides a tremendous mismatch for many defensive backs, but Massey is also crafty with his footwork and route running ability and flip the switch when it comes to his speed. He's a great interview as well and when asked who he was working on to join the class he mentioned his teammates Arvell Ferguson and Jay Maclin along with CJ Boone and Marcus Washington.

- Ferguson had an equally impressive performance on defense. He lined up at defensive end mostly, but also took some snaps at outside linebacker as well and helped out in coverage. The three-star prospect was tough for Howell's offensive line to handle without double teaming him or running away from his side.

Ferguson finished with around seven tackles and a couple of sacks. He told me he's got his mind made up on his school and is sticking to his September 6th commitment date, which is his mom's birthday. Once again, a good vibe here that he'll end up being a Tiger.

- I was taking highlights of Massey and Ferguson throughout the game, so my attention wasn't focused on Maclin too much, but I saw enough out of him to know he's a playmaker. Very quick and shifty as a wide receiver and had a couple of key pass break ups as a defensive back as well. He also sealed the game for Kirkwood, catching a late touchdown on a ball that was underthrown but bounced off the hands of a Francis-Howell defender and into Maclin's. Really entertaining game all around.

- Once again, I didn't keep my eyes on Heismeyer a lot last night but he passes the look test of a solid power five prospect. He's got a good frame, balanced, and showed some good footwork in the few times I keyed in on him.

Friday in St. Louis, I plan to swing by Trinity Catholic and catch up with Marcus Washington, Ira Henry, Shammond Cooper, Mookie Cooper, and others. I'll also be at Moses Okpala's game on Friday night.

Saturday, I'll be at the East St. Louis Classic all day with four games and we'll have a ton of stuff from that over the next week.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING

The news at this point is mainly focused on watching what happens at other places.

Liddell is visiting Ohio State this weekend. It's his first official visit. It would be a surprise to see him end the process before taking other trips, but the Buckeyes are most definitely a big threat for him. Some believe they are the leader. Corey Evans forecast the chance of a commitment at 60%. I'm not sure if that means this weekend or at some point. Personally I believe that's a little high. I expect him to make the official visit to Mizzou next weekend, but you never know. So keep an eye out for any news from Columbus. Buckeye commits D.J. Carton and Alonzo Gaffney will be in town putting the full court press on. Liddell committing to the Buckeyes would be a major blow for the Tigers' 2019 class.

Watts takes his first official visit this weekend as well. He'll be at Florida State. He was on campus at Michigan State earlier this week as well. No real movement here. It's going to be a dogfight. FSU has a couple of other prospects in town with him.

Jackson is supposed to be visiting Seton Hall this weekend. He's also got visits set up with Oklahoma (Sept 18) and Mizzou (Sept 22). Our Minnesota site reported that the Gophers are trying to get him on campus the last weekend in September as well. Right now, we'd forecast Jackson as the most likely to commit to Missouri first, but that's by no means a sure thing the Tigers are going to get him. There's competition there for sure.

Braun is one we think you can pretty much cross off the list. Kansas offered this week. We can't say whether the offer is committable at this point or not, but if it is, the Jayhawks are almost certainly at the top of the list. Even if it isn't, we're told Missouri hasn't really pushed much since the offer. We just don't see this one being a match. Braun will be at K-State this weekend and is also visiting Oklahoma at some point.

Status quo on this one. We hear from many places Missouri is in great shape to get McKinney, but it's really up to the Tigers right now. We don't see them moving before they know where they stand with Rocket Watts. McKinney told us he's looking at an October OV to Columbia. Obviously Watts visits before that. McKinney visits Kansas State next weekend.
