BASKETBALL RECRUITING
A couple of quick notes here.
As @drewking0222 posted last night, Columbia point guard Aaron Rowe will take an official visit this weekend. If you remember, there was a recent rule change where basketball players can take five official visits as juniors and then take five more next year if they want. This is the first official we know of for Rowe. It's obviously a short trip, but that's actually good news. There's no real reason for Rowe to use an official to see Mizzou. He's there all the time. He was at the last home game. He's been to a bunch of them. It's a good sign that he's taking an OV. We believe Mizzou is the leader here. We'd expect other visits, but the Tigers are in excellent shape to keep him home from what we hear.
2026 Illinois shooting guard Gabe Sularski is also expected to be in town on an unofficial visit. He's previously visited Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan State and Wisconsin and certainly has the feel of an eventual Big Ten player, but Mizzou is getting him on campus for a look this weekend.
FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Okay, now for the main course.
- After a couple of visits to Tennessee, including a recent official with the Volunteers, longtime Missouri DL commit Elias Williams publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers via social media. Obviously, a big win for the Tigers as Tennessee, Alabama, USC, and Florida State were all expressing interest in Williams. This is where a 10-win regular season pays off.
- After visiting Missouri for their home finale against Florida, three-star ATH Trajen Greco backed off his Georgia Tech commitment this past Saturday. Missouri likes Greco at cornerback and right now, we're expecting him to commit to the Tigers. He's taking an official visit in a couple of weeks and we don't expect any announcement before then. Greco recently talked about his decision to reopen his recruiting process HERE.
- After backing off his commitment to UCLA and scheduling a December 15th official visit with Missouri, three-star RB Derrick McFall went ahead and committed to SMU earlier this week. That news came on the heels of SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee getting a contract extension. With McFall off the board, Missouri still sets in good shape with other running back targets Kewan Lacy, who took an official with Mizzou in November, and J'Marion Burnette, who is set to take an OV with the Tigers on Dec. 8th.
- Speaking of Lacy, Rivals.com analyst Cole Patterson caught up with the talented running back at his practice on Wednesday. Lacy has already taken an official to Missouri the weekend of the Florida game, but a visit to Alabama is looming. The Crimson Tide will be tough to beat as Lacy told Patterson that Alabama was his dream school - CLICK HERE FOR MORE. We'd certainly handicap the Tide as the favorite, but Missouri is still in the fight.
- Speaking of wide receivers, Missouri may be in better shape Ashton Bethel-Roman and Courtney Crutchfield. Bethel-Roman was in CoMo for Missouri's win over Florida in November. Crutchfield has yet to visit Missouri and they are trying to get him on campus for an official. Obviously, Bethel-Roman is currently committed to Arkansas and Crutchfield recently backed off his pledge to the Razorbacks. We mention that since Arkansas brought back Bobby Petrino to be their offensive coordinator, which has created some buzz. Petrino is expected to visit Crutchfield this week and surely will do the same with Bethel-Roman. Receiver is an interesting spot for the Tigers. They're definitely monitoring some guys, but they can afford to be picky. They don't have to add a receiver, but will if it's the right one.
- Mizzou is not hosting any official visitors this weekend. They will load up the next two weeks. Missouri's coaches will be on the road this weekend. They'll hit up a bunch of schools or in-home visits to see prospects in person on Friday and Saturday before the entire staff is back in town for Sunday's bowl announcement. Eli Drinkwitz is expected to visit the following players in the next 48 hours:
Aidan Glover
Brian Huff
Trajan Greco
J'Marion Burnette
Following the bowl announcement, Drinkwitz will be back on the road to visit Kewan Lacy on Sunday evening.
- Mizzou will also have coaches on the road in Texas and Florida this weekend. They'll have multiple coaches in the Kansas City area today. They'll see multiple players, but there are three priorities:
Jayven Richardson
Williams Nwaneri
These two are obviously just making sure they know they're of the highest priority and nobody else can come in and convince them to visit or waver in the three weeks before signing day. The other one is Missouri trying to be the one that comes in and convinces someone to waver.
The Tigers are not giving up on Andrew Sprague. He's been committed to Michigan for a while and if we had to guess, that's where he'll sign. But our understanding is communication has been more open in recent weeks than it was previously. There are obviously a lot of questions about what's going to happen at Michigan and with Jim Harbaugh. However, the interim coach has been offensive line coach Sherrone Moore, who's won the last three games and many people believe has proven he's ready to be the guy if Harbaugh leaves. If that's the case, it probably helps with Sprague. Obviously Harbaugh isn't leaving Michigan before signing day on December 20. But if a coach leaves, every kid is absolutely going to be released from his NLI. So it's worth considering that Sprague will sign with the Wolverines in three weeks, but things could open back up in January. Again, we don't think it's likely. We think he still goes to Michigan. But Mizzou is trying and hasn't been told it's definitely not worth it at this point.
