Just gonna be up front with you guys. This isn't the most Chamberish time of year. Football is just getting past National Signing Day. Offers are going out regularly, but at this point in time it's hard to gauge what any of them mean. There might be a stray commitment or two in the spring, but most of the action won't start until at least May or June. In hoops, both college coaching staffs and high school players are primarily focused on their seasons right now. But we'll give you what we've got.

FOOTBALL

A few recruiting notes to pass along:

- I talked with a source that covers Notre Dame and brought up Logan-Redding, who told me that right now he isn't among their top tier targets and they wouldn't take a commitment from him right now. Things can always change, but obviously good news for the Tigers.

- I talked with the same Notre Dame source about Johnson and he says the four-star wide receiver is a definite take for the Irish and quite possibly his leader. As we've mentioned as the page has now turned to the 2020 class, getting a commitment from the state's top prospect will be an uphill climb for Mizzou.

- After attempting to reach him after his recent junior day visit, we got a hold of someone close to Cooper who told us that the four-star prospect is at a point now that he doesn't want to do interviews in regards to his recruiting process. Along with Missouri, Cooper has also visited Georgia and is planning to visit Texas again this weekend so far this year.

- Chaminade (Mo.) quarterback Brady Cook was the first addition to Missouri's recruiting class, but it's clear the Tigers are looking to add another quarterback in the 2020 class. We did a story on Cardinal Ritter (Mo.) product Mekhi Hagens yesterday, who seems to be a focal point right now.

Missouri also extended a new offer to 3-star signal-caller Parker McQuarrie out of New Hampshire on Wednesday.

Here is a list of other uncommitted quarterback targets for Mizzou in the 2020 class:

In-state targets getting new offers:

- Billingsley picked up a new offer this week from LSU, who he's been communicating with for quite a while now. He will be visiting Alabama this weekend and LSU shortly after.

- Manning has had a big week, picking up new offers from Michigan, Baylor, and Oklahoma. He is now up to 14 total offers that also include the likes of Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Iowa, and others.

- Doyle is starting to enter the national scene, picking up offers from Georgia and Auburn within the past week. He is now up to 20 total offers that also include the likes of LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and others.

BASKETBALL

The only real news this week was that Mizzou was in to check on 2020 Chicago shooting guard DJ Steward. I tried to reach out to Steward to see what level of mutual interest there was, but have not heard back. My first inclination is that this is a guy they're watching, but not a primary target. To illustrate why, let's take a look at the makeup of the next couple of classes and what we expect:

2019-20 roster (2019 recruiting class)

Guards: Dru Smith, Mark Smith, Xavier Pinson, Javon Pickett, Torrence Watson, Mario McKinney Ronnie Suggs (maybe, as we said, he's a senior academically and there's no guarantee he will be on the roster, much less on scholarship next season)

Forwards/Centers: Jeremiah Tilmon, Tray Jackson, KJ Santos, Mitchell Smith, Reed Nikko (being truthful, we don't expect all three of those guys to be on the roster next year--not based on anything we've heard, just based on common sense--but for now they are), Parker Braun (he'll be on the team, whether he's on scholarship remains to be seen).

That leaves 1-2 scholarships. We still think Mizzou adds a wing and/or a forward. Could be a high school guy, could be juco, could be a transfer/grad transfer. Who knows? But we think Mizzou adds t least one player.

2020-21 roster (2020 recruiting class)

Guards: Dru Smith, Mark Smith, Xavier Pinson, Javon Pickett, Torrence Watson, Mario McKinney. In other words, Mizzou won't have a single senior guard next year. They're recruiting Caleb Love and and Josh Christopher. Those are pretty obviously the top two targets, which is why I doubt DJ Steward is an A list guy right now.

Forwards/Centers: Jeremiah Tilmon, Tray Jackson, KJ Santos, Mitchell Smith, whoever they add this spring. They're recruiting Cam'Ron Fletcher, who is a priority guy. He's not exactly a front court player. We list him as a small forward, but he's 6-5 and athletic as hell, so more of a guard type of wing than a forward type of wing probably. But we include him here because he's not a straight point/shooting guard. Again, you've got Parker Braun here and we're not sure what the scholarship situation will be.

We don't expect all 10 guys we listed to necessarily be on the roster in two years, but the most likely guys not to be here would be front court guys, which means you're looking for another forward or center in this class, not another shooting guard. I understand position less basketball, but the likelihood of going into a season with only two or three guys taller than 6-5 just isn't very high. '

This was a very long way of saying that nothing serious is probably going to develop with a 2020 guard until the staff has a more concrete idea of what's happening with Fletcher, Love and Christopher.

So that's where we stand.
