BASKETBALL RECRUITING
Told you guys last week we'd run down a few of the top 2024 targets. We expect the 2023 class to be mostly transfers with the possible exception of Kris Parker (no new info on him since the December visit didn't materialize). Going into 2024, we're expecting somewhere around four scholarships. That can always increase based on roster attrition, but that's the baseline. This is basically a "hot board" with the targets we believe there is some traction on both sides. We're also narrowing this down to what we believe to be "realistic" targets (for example, we're not including Jarin Stevenson, who may visit, but he's a North Carolina 5-star with Duke and Carolina offers, so realistically, he's not landing at Mizzou). Anyway, if Missouri fills its class with some combination of names from this list, the Tigers have been very successful in 2024.
Naasir Cunningham -- has visited unofficially
Carter Bryant -- Travon Bryant's nephew. Hasn't yet visited
Annor Boateng -- Has visited. Nationally, the expectation is he'll stay in Arkansas, but Mizzou has a solid shot
Dallas Thomas -- Has visited officially.
Marcus Allen -- Has visited officially. Playing with 2023 signee Trent Pierce this year
Travis Perry -- Hasn't visited, but Mizzou has gone to see him and really likes him
Ryan Jones Jr -- Hasn't been a lot of news lately, but has been mentioned quite a bit in the past
John Bol -- Perhaps the top target on the board, especially with James Brown to North Carolina
Jordan McCullum -- Has visited officially
Jordyn Kee -- Talked this week about setting up a visit
Jesse McCulloch -- Believe he has visited unofficially. Missouri has been in regular contact
Antonio Barrett -- Hasn't gotten a ton of national buzz, but has visited officially and Mizzou really likes him
Qin Pang -- Starting to get more national buzz. Visited unofficially. Missouri really likes him.
That's 13 prospects. Again, if Mizzou gets any four off this list, the Tigers have hit on Plan A, or at worst, a couple of Plan B targets. Any combination of these 13 names would be an excellent class.
FOOTBALL RECRUITING
The late signing period starts on Wednesday. This used to be the biggest day of the year. This time around, we don't expect Missouri to sign anyone. The rest of the class will likely be transfers (you never know when a late under the radar kid gets a shot, but with Mizzou already over the scholarship limit by a handful of players, it seems unlikely to us they're going to be handing out "why not, we have an extra scholarship available" offers).
So, in that light, we are not at this time expecting any 2023 visitors this weekend. However, it is junior day for Missouri on Saturday. Here are some players we expect to be in town. We're still waiting to hear back on a few other guys and may have a follow up post or two on them later, but needed to get this out to you guys this morning.
Darrion Dupree, RB, Mt. Carmel (Ill.) - Dupree has held an offer from Missouri for nearly a year now and is a prospect that continues to rise up the ranks. He's currently in the Rivals250 rankings and has nearly 30 offers highlighted by Michigan, Notre Dame, and others.
Carson Bruhn, TE, Sioux Center (Ia.) - Bruhn has held an offer from Missouri since November. This will be his first time visiting Columbia. He recently took a trip to Minnesota and has previously visited Kansas and K-State
Ryan Jostes, OL, Washington (Mo.) - Just picked up a Missouri offer last week. He visited Vanderbilt last weekend and picked up an offer from the Commodores. Also holds notable offers from Iowa State, Illinois, Louisville, and others.
Keelan Smith, ATH, Liberty North (Mo.) - Smith will return to Missouri after visiting for the Vandy game during the season and visiting in December to watch the Tigers' practice for their bowl game. He's already established a good connection with WR coach Jacob Peeler. Smith said he also plans to visit Iowa, Nebraska, K-State, and Kentucky during the spring as well.
Brian Huff, OLB, Valley View (Ark.) - Huff attended a Missouri game back in September and the interest appears to be very mutual with a return visit planned. Huff visited Arkansas last weekend for their Jr. Day. LSU and Oklahoma State also extended offers during the fall.
LeonTre Bradford, S, East St. Louis (Ill.) - Bradford was another summer offer for the Tigers and has been to a game this season. Wisconsin, Michigan State, Purdue, and Louisville are his latest offers.
Tionne Gray, DL, Hazelwood Central (Mo.) - Gray has already been to Missouri a lot since picking up an offer during the summer. He just added offers from K-State and Washington as well.
