BASKETBALL RECRUITING
Here is the list of teams qualified for Peach Jam next week
POOL A
The UnderArmour Challenge is also in Atlanta next week. 78 teams are listed as competing. Mitchell will spend a little bit of time there. The majority of the Mizzou targets are likely to be at Peach Jam, but we'll definitely go by UA to see what we need to see.
Following Peach Jam, we'd expect to start seeing some movement on recruiting with official visits scheduled, lists cut down and maybe even some commitments. We believe the first guy we'll start seeing developments with on that front in 2019 is Mario McKinney. Not sure it will be a quick commitment after the AAU season, but we're still hearing Missouri is in good shape and that his recruiting will progress after Peach Jam is complete. The next three months or so will be very interesting to follow and vital for Martin's building of the program.
FOOTBALL RECRUITING
The official visits are on pause right now. They can resume on the first day of classes of senior year, so in a little bit over a month. There are a couple of announcements this month that hold interest for Mizzou:
Njoku will announce some time next week. We've been told by colleagues in the Rivals.com network that the Tigers are considered the favorite.
First things first, Manuel will get his ranking soon. Simply a crack in the system that he doesn't already have one. I'd expect him to be a three-star prospect. Manuel will make his commitment public on July 30. Initially we didn't think Missouri was in great shape here, but we've since had people tell us they believe the Tigers are likely to land him.
So we'll obviously follow both of those closely. The main event this month is Night at the Zou which will take place on July 28th. Here are prospects that we know are currently expected to attend:
We would expect Ira Henry and CJ Boone may be there as well, but at this point we aren't sure. Obviously we're three weeks away. Plenty of names will be added to the list and some will probably be subtracted. But we wanted to give you an idea of what we're hearing early on some kids who should be there. This event is good for really getting a feel for how much Mizzou likes a kid and how much the kid likes Mizzou. The kids Mizzou is really serious about will have invitations to this camp. The ones that are really serious about Missouri will mostly show up.
Speaking of Marcus Washington, we feel even more strongly than we did the last time we talked that Missouri is in very, very good shape here. He's going through the recruiting process and enjoying it. He'll take some visits. We still have reason to believe he'll end up at Mizzou in the end.
