Obviously things are a little strange. Recruiting is happening, but there can be no visits either official or unofficial, on campus or off. Everything is being done digitally right now across the country. That policy is in place for at least another 26 days, until April 15th. That's the first day of the late basketball signing period. Obviously everything is very much in flux right now in all sports. We've got some recruiting info below, but again, it's an unprecedented time right now so things are kind of tough to track.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING

The 2019 point guard has entered the transfer portal following his freshman season at Ohio State. He averaged 10.4 points, 3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and shot 40% from three in 20 games this season before taking time away from the team for personal reasons. We've not yet seen any indication of a list of schools for him, but it would make sense that Missouri will at least inquire. However, the thought is that Carton is going to probably look to play somewhere in Iowa to be closer to home. Michigan and Indiana were his other finalists when he committed to the Buckeyes, though Mizzou was in on him for quite a while. But again, we don't see it as all that likely right now.

Here's another potential transfer name to watch: Southeast Louisiana forward Ty Brewer. We don't have any concrete information here, other than someone telling us to keep an eye on him. He is a traditional transfer, not a grad transfer, so you'd have the question of whether he'd be immediately eligible which could be a factor in Missouri's interest. Brewer averaged 14.9 points and 7.7 rebounds and led the Lions in steals and blocked shots. He hung 30 on Ole Miss. He just entered the portal five days ago and we haven't seen anything on schools involved at this point, but he fits almost exactly the kind of player Mizzou could use...immediately.

We've gotten some indication from people in St. Louis this week to look for Mizzou to get more involved with Nesbitt, a 2021 point guard, in the near future. The question will be if it's a little too late. It's been fairly well discussed that Missouri hadn't shown a lot of interest in Nesbitt. Illinois offered a couple of weeks ago and he's starting to get more attention. If Missouri joins that party will the Tigers be in the mix or it will be held against them that they waited? Don't have an answer on that, just curiosity.

Missed this earlier, but the 2022 big man from Chaminade tweeted out a Mizzou offer last night, so you can add him to the list of potential targets. You would think local guys will be a bigger focus in the next two classes because coaches are going to have fewer chances to get on the road and evaluate nationally with all the canceled events.

The Tigers also offered Shaw yesterday. He's been to campus previously. We'll work on reaching both of the new offers soon.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING

- The East St. Louis quarterback became the fourth commitment of the 2021 class on Friday evening. In case you missed any of our wall-to-wall coverage, here are the links below:

- Lovett recently talked with EdgyTim.com about his recruiting process that included his recent visit to Missouri and his thoughts on Macon’s commitment. Along with Missouri, the four-star prospect said he’s been in contact with LSU, Alabama, and Mississippi State recently and had trips to both Alabama and LSU cancelled due to the coronavirus threat.

- Last weekend, the three-star safety target released his Top 9 schools - among that group was Missouri. In an interview this week with Rivals.com Josh Helmholdt, Perry mentioned that his priority visits after the dead period is lifted will be Louisville, Iowa State, and Minnesota. It appears that schools in close proximity to his hometown of Chicago, so Missouri appears to be on the outside looking in for now.

- The four-star cornerback was one of the key targets Missouri had on campus March 7th before the current recruiting shutdown and that could prove to be important. Carnell had planned to take spring officials and be committed by August and is still hoping to stick to that game plan depending how the next few weeks unfold. He's been to Notre Dame a few times already. Louisville and Minnesota are two other schools he's hoping to visit.

- Regarding Navy linebacker Jacob Springer, who is a recent addition to the transfer portal. He told us this week that while many Missouri coaches have followed him on Twitter, he hasn't had any conversations with the staff as of yet. Springer finished last season with 69 tackles and 16 tackles for loss and a team-high eight sacks. He is a native of Kansas City that attended Park Hill South in high school.
