This is not an argument whether Mizzou should keep Barry Odom or not. I'm out of energy for that. But in another thread, someone had asked me why finances are an issue. Here's the plain answer to that question:
Mizzou operated at a 2.5 million dollar deficit last year. It would cost about 2 mil to buy out Odom and probably another 2-3 mil to buy out the coaching staff. If the NCAA appeal is not overturned, Mizzou stands to lose another 8 million. So you are at about a 15 million dollar deficit BEFORE YOU EVEN TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU MIGHT PAY THE NEW COACH. And the AD still owes the school for a large chunk (40-50% I think) of the money bonded on the South end zone project.
It's a factor. Maybe the biggest factor. Again, there is none of my opinion of what Missouri should do involved in this. These are simply numbers to give you an idea of what I believe is the biggest hurdle if Mizzou were to make a change. I'm not saying it makes the change impossible, but it's the number one thing Jim Sterk will have to consider.
