I’ve seen a lot of people say they didn’t know anything about last night’s alumni game, and I think a big part of that is that they put this thing together in about six weeks.

Kareem Rush told me after the game that the plan for next year is to have at least eight teams and do it over a three-day weekend. They’re hoping to get teams from KU, Kansas State, Mizzou and Illinois at a minimum and then would like to get at least four more. Ultimately Rush said they’d like to turn it into a 32- or 48-team tournament similar to The Basketball Tournament running right now, but at least for next year they’d like to get some of Mizzou and KU’s local rivals in on it.
